In a few months since we have been evaluating a vaporizer sevofluorà ease Esteve Veterinaria , to study the possibility of replacing the vaporizers currently use this new model. The sevofluorà Inhalator is an anesthetic that has advantages over the forces isofluorà: time to sleep and waking the patient it very short, is not irritating to the respiratory mask allows direct inductions with many species of exotic reject isofluorà (rabbits, reptiles, rodents ...) are eliminated mainly through the lungs ... all facts determining that, despite the investment that is changing, more suitable for the anesthesia of our exotic patients.

The perfect complement to anesthesia with a capnògraf sevofluorà has been to control the CO2 in the inspired air and exhaled by the patient, which helps establish the anesthetic plane achieved and also allows monitoring the evolution of the patient throughout the anesthesia with sevofluorà.

The 26 children in the class B 2 (which is called "Vets"), seven years old this week have come to visit our center. Children accompanied by their teacher, Miss. Paula had worked the day before you come visit, and had prepared a long list of questions about the tasks and functions of the veterinary care of companion pets (dogs, cats, parrots, tigers, whales ...!) .
The staff of Zoo Veterinary Badalona children have received, and after viewing all, we proceeded to make a detailed tour of our clinic, showing all rooms, explaining what to do each one and explain what our daily work.
What I liked most, was the visit to the area hospital with cages and the animals inside, and the prequiròfan and the operating room, where they could see all the tools and machines used in interventions of the species in question. Riddles with radiographs of exotic species have generated very funny moments.

Specialized clinical laboratory:
Hematology and clinical biochemistry: our laboratory standard hematological techniques applied to mammals, and specific methods for birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Our panels designed for each type of animal and for certain diseases, such as chlamydia panel, the panel of metabolic bone disease, the poultry liver panel, renal panel for the emergency and panels for basic and general in different species.
Cytology: establishing common staining techniques and specific (for mycobacteria, chlamydia, megabacteris, fungi, etc.). Studies and routine cytology (Giemsa, Diff-Quick and methylene blue), and cell counts and evaluation of body fluids.
Immunological techniques for specific diseases: serologies for diagnosis of salmonellosis, aspergillosis, Mycoplasmosis, chlamydia, viral diseases of small carnivores (bromine, panleucopènia, infectious peritonitis, etc..), Viral hepatitis in primates, toxoplasmosis, etc. .
